WABCO, Westinghouse Air Brake Company, was founded in 1869 in the USA by George Westinghouse, entrepreneur, engineer and inventor. In the same year, he invented the air brake system that improved the safety of US railway. In 1895, he helped Nicola Tesla in the construction of the first AC power plant and the electric line in Niagara Falls. In 1976, the world’s first Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) for commercial vehicles was created. In the following years, new innovative solutions were introduced such as the traction control system (TCS), electronic braking system (EBS), advanced emergency braking system (AEBS) and many others. WABCO branches are located in 40 countries around the world. The first Polish branch of the company was established in Łódź in 1995. In 2011 WABCO Polska Ltd was established in Wroclaw. The WABCO international headquarters is located in Brussels, Belgium.
